Choosing the Right Shaker Wardrobe Doors: Styles, Materials & Finishes
With so many options available on the market, it’s important to understand the differences in materials and choose a shaker-style design that you’ll love for years to come. Taking the time to select the right finish, panel detail, and overall look will ensure your wardrobe not only suits your space but also stands the test of time.
All of our shaker-style wardrobes are fully made to measure, which gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to choosing the exact shape, style, and material of the doors.
We typically offer two main material options:
- Factory-lacquered MDF, with or without internal beading — ideal for a smooth, contemporary finish
- Real oak veneer shaker doors, which can be lacquered to preserve the natural oak tone or stained in one of over 50 colour options if you’d prefer a different shade.
One particularly popular choice in recent years, especially among interior designers, is our Malmo range — made from spray-painted oak veneer. This option allows you to choose any colour from a well-known paint brand, which we will match, while still preserving the natural woodgrain texture of the oak veneer for a warm, tactile look.
Windsor CleanFrame
Our most iconic shaker wardrobe design features 60mm frames with no internal beading — ideal for those looking to combine traditional charm with modern aesthetics in a clean, timeless way.
Mayfair Beaded Shaker
Shaker-style door with elegant internal beading that adds a subtle traditional touch to its otherwise minimalist finish — perfect for those who love timeless design with refined detail.
Gentle Frame
A shaker-style door with minimalist rounded internal beading, offering a softer, more refined take on classic detailing — perfect for a timeless yet modern look.
Modern 4-panel Shaker
A shaker-style door design similar to our Windsor range, featuring four equal panels with no internal beading. This layout creates a slightly busier, more structured look — ideal for those who want something a bit different from the classic shaker design.
Mirrored Frame Shaker
This wardrobe design features a classic shaker frame with integrated mirror panels, creating a perfect blend of form and function. The mirrored doors enhance the sense of space and natural light in the room, while the structured shaker frames maintain a timeless, architectural elegance. Ideal for bedrooms that favour a calm, neutral palette, this look works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary homes.
Malmo painted oak veneer
If you’re not a big fan of factory-lacquered MDF finishes and worry they may look too modern, we have the perfect solution. Our Malmo range of shaker-style wardrobe doors is crafted from real oak veneer and spray-painted in any colour to match a well-known paint brand of your choice.
It’s a great way to kill two birds with one stone — you get the luxurious, smooth lacquered finish on the outside, while still keeping the natural woodgrain texture that brings warmth and traditional character to your space.
Lacquered Oak Veneer Shaker
If you’re a fan of real wood exteriors and don’t like the look of plain, modern-style doors in your bedroom, this range is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Our shaker-style natural oak veneer doors can be lacquered to preserve the natural oak colour, or stained in one of 50 shades — whether you want to match something else in your room or simply prefer a slightly darker or lighter wood tone.
