Wood Veneer Oak Fitted Wardrobes
Custom-made fitted wardrobes in real oak wood veneer
We measure to create. They measure to compromise.
At Urban, every wardrobe is truly made-to-measure — built from scratch to fit your exact space, style, and storage needs. No pre-set unit sizes, no catalogue constraints. Just beautifully crafted furniture designed around you.
Many other companies also “measure,” but only to see how many of their standard units they can squeeze in. The result? Oversized infills, wasted space, and awkward designs that feel like an afterthought.
If it’s not built for your space, is it really made-to-measure?

Why Choose Real Wood Veneer for Your Fitted Wardrobe?
First – and probably the most important reason – is the look. A wood veneer storage solution, whether it’s a built in oak veneer wardrobe, a fully bespoke veneered wood cupboard, or something like a custom chest of drawers or dressing room, just has a feel that other finishes can’t match.
The grain, the warmth, the texture – all of that adds a richness to the space. A fitted wood veneer wardrobe instantly makes your bedroom or living room look more high-end. It just feels more expensive and considered. And when you walk into a space fitted with real wood, the atmosphere changes completely. It’s cosy, calm, and elevated.
We’ve worked on everything from large-scale tailor made wood veneer wardrobes to compact built in veneer wardrobe doors in small alcoves, and no matter the size, real wood transforms the space. Our oak veneer wardrobes and walnut veneer wardrobes in particular are extremely popular – oak brings that timeless Scandi-style brightness, while walnut gives off a deep, luxurious feel.
From oak fitted wardrobes to tailor made walnut veneer wardrobes, real wood veneer gives you something truly unique. And because we use proper, high-quality materials, the final product never feels “mass produced.” It’s elegant, personal, and built to last.
Combining Wood Veneer with Other Finishes (Glass, Mirrors, Matt Lacquer)
At Urban, we absolutely love blending materials – and mixing real wood with lacquer or glass finishes is something you’ll see throughout our work. We’ve created bespoke veneer wardrobe doors that combine walnut veneer doors with sleek matt lacquer, or oak veneer wardrobe doors with fluted textures and soft-close mirrored panels.
This contrast between natural and modern finishes really works well in both minimalist and more decorative interiors. You can keep things clean and simple with fitted oak veneer wardrobe doors, or go bold with tailor made wood veneer doors in a dark, rich tone paired with metallic accents or smoked glass.
Many of our projects feature made to measure veneer wardrobe doors, often in a mix of open shelving, hidden storage, and full-height doors. For example, bespoke oak wood wardrobes in a walk-in dressing room might be softened with curved corners and accent lighting, while built in oak veneer wardrobes in a loft conversion could incorporate sloped ceilings and integrated drawers.
Bespoke wood veneer cubpoards
Whether you’re dreaming of bespoke oak wardrobes with floating shelves, or tailor made oak veneer wardrobe doors with vertical handles, we can create it. Just send us your Pinterest board or a few screenshots from Instagram, and we’ll design a fitted oak veneer wardrobe or made to measure oak veneer wardrobe that’s perfect for your home.
Fluted Oak Veneer Media Walls
Fluted oak veneer panels are the main design feature of this media wall. The natural fluting details elevate the look of the room and create a warm, calm atmosphere in the living area. The stained oak veneer doors operate on push-to-open mechanisms and provide ample storage. LED lighting enhances the natural wood finish, making it look even more luxurious and high-end.
Lacquered Oak Veneer cabinets
It’s not always easy to find the perfect balance between functionality and sophisticated design. No matter how thoughtfully the interior is planned, if the exterior finish is poor, your bedroom will never feel complete. Lacquered oak shaker-style doors pair beautifully with black handles, creating a timeless and elegant look. That said, you can always combine different materials and colours to suit your own style and vision.
Spray painted oak wardrobes
Factory-spray painted oak veneer wardrobes, like our Malmo range, offer a fantastic opportunity to bring real wood into your bedroom while achieving your desired colour. It’s essentially a hybrid between a sprayed MDF finish and lacquered oak — giving you the exact shade you’re after, but with the added bonus of retaining that beautiful, luxurious oak texture.
Lacquered Oak Veneer or Sprayed
Factory Painted vs Lacquered
Working with designers over the last couple of years, we’ve developed a popular range of oak veneer wardrobes that are spray painted in our factory to give the oak a custom colour. Unlike the lacquering process, where the natural tone of the wood is kept and only an oil or clear lacquer is applied, painting the doors with real paint allows us to completely change the colour while still keeping the woodgrain texture visible. We can match any shade from brands like Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, and more.
We really love working with oak, and whether you decide to paint it to match your bedroom walls or go with a lacquered finish to preserve the natural look of the wood, we’re here to help. You’re always welcome to visit our showroom, where we can talk through all the options, show you samples, and provide a detailed quotation for an amazing, high-quality product tailored to your space.
Questions
Tailor Made wood veneer wardrobe
Not completely. It can definitely handle a bit of moisture, but we always recommend avoiding direct contact with water to keep it looking its best over time.
They’re more expensive than laminated MFC options, but not by a huge margin — usually around 15–25% more. The difference in quality and appearance, though, is on a whole other level.
You’re looking at a solid 20 to 30 years, depending on how it’s maintained and whether it’s exposed to moisture. Using gentle cleaning products and avoiding harsh conditions will help it last even longer.
Not at all. The surface layer is real wood. The difference is that instead of being solid all the way through, it’s bonded onto a core like MDF or plywood — which makes it more affordable and more stable for fitted furniture.
Absolutely. We use high-quality materials, and we always recommend visiting our showroom if you want to see and feel the difference for yourself.
Choosing the right stain is key — go too dark or too light, and it might feel dated over time. Natural grain can also vary, which gives it character but might be seen as a risk compared to something like lacquered MDF, where the finish is more consistent.
Both will give you a practical storage solution, but real veneer adds something extra — it becomes part of the room’s character, not just another cabinet. Laminate serves its function, but veneer adds warmth and presence.
Yes, it can be painted or stained. You can keep the texture visible while matching the colour to well-known brands. Or, if you prefer a more natural look, there are over 50 stain options available.
Yes, it can. Exposure to sunlight may cause some fading or deepening of tone — which many people actually love for the character it brings over time.
Definitely. If used for the interior or exterior of your wardrobe, it’s perfectly strong and durable enough to hold everything you need.
Compared to lacquered MDF finish, it’s only around 5% more. Compared to laminate, it’s about 15–25% more. But let’s be honest — if you’re considering this finish, you probably already know laminate isn’t really what you’re after.
It’s simple — just a soft cloth and water will do the job. Avoid chemical cleaners and you’ll keep the finish looking cleanfand natural.
