Spray Painted Understairs Cupboard

When you are thinking about adding storage space to your house, one space, which is usually underestimated, is the area beneath the staircase. For our latest project, we decided to turn this underutilized space into a functional and aesthetic masterpiece: a fitted understairs wardrobe.

This bespoke under stairs cupboard is the first thing that catches your eye when you enter the client’s home. So the decision was to use sprayed MDF doors for the exterior of the wardrobe. Painted in a colour that matches Dulux’s Bright White, the wardrobe doors seamlessly blend with the surroundings, offering a neat, modern look. The Internals of the wardrobe have been built from scratch based on the measurements of the space and Stone Grey laminated board finish has been used as a material for carcass.

The space under the staircase is the last space before you enter the living room. these spaces are often ignored,  despite the fact they offer a great opportunity to add storage without eating into your living space. As we can see from the picture the middle part of the wardrobe is used for storing shoes and other belongings. Depth of the wardrobe is around 800mm so pull-out drawers is the greatest way to utilise the whole depth of the space. The right door on hinges is used to cover the utility area.
