Made to measure wine cave, Roehampton

The main idea of the project is not to lose the space above the wine fridges. We have installed two lacquered doors in the middle of the wall with the huge fridge behind.

Wine cellars can add value to your property. They are a feature buyers will be looking for in high end properties. But they are also something wine enthusiasts can enjoy in the interim after making the investment. Its important wine is stored correctly to be enjoyed at its best. You need to think about the humidity, light and temperature of the room.

Fine wines can be very pricy, so you want to take proper care of them. Bottles need to be stored horizontally and these wine fridges have ample room to accommodate an impressive collection at the right temperature. The reason they are stored horizontally is to prevent the cork drying out and causing seepage. The wine needs to remain in contact with the cork.

The location of this wine cellar is ideal tucked to the side away from direct sunlight. If a wine gets too warm or light struck its flavours are impaired. If you like to hang on to a special bottle until the time is right, you need to ensure it is kept in ideal conditions. Some wines benefit from ageing, so you don’t want to leave anything to chance if you have an expensive bottle saved for an important occasion or celebration.

No space is wasted with our bespoke shelving and doors. It also means that the sizeable fridge can be hidden out of sight, so everything remains sophisticated and stylish. A big fridge is needed but would be an eye sore compared to the grand wine fridges. Adding the shelving means some bottles can be stored upright so having shelving is a necessity for bottles that are served best at room temperature.

It’s an attractive room for entertaining. Adding extra storage means the room can look the part and still be functional. Without shelves the room would be missing out on additional space and could soon look cluttered and disorganised.
